Brown-Eyed Girl
It's true. This girl can't go anywhere without drawing a crowd. She's a real people-lover, too. Smiles, coos, mimics--has the whole world wrapped around her tiny, pudgy fingers. Labels: Eliana, People
Eyelashes
I won't have time to post pictures for a couple days, so here's some extras to tide you over. Zack after the sprinkler. Labels: People, Zack
Red Trunks
Today is Zack's third birthday, though we won't have an official party until this weekend. Still, we had to have SOME fun tonight, so the boys played in the sprinkler and shivered in towels while they ate ice cream. Labels: People, Zack

Maple Tree Happiness
We have what I consider to be the quintessential maple tree in our back yard that just makes me happy. Perfect height for walking under, perfect positioning for shade, perfect limb for hanging a swing. Made for a perfect setting to have a Memorial Day picnic on a blanket and spend the afternoon relaxing with the family. (And there's beautiful red maple in the front yard. This is suburban bliss--if you could actually call where we live a suburb.) Labels: Scenic/Nature
Budding Photographer
So as I'm snapping photos today, Cameron asked me (as he often has been lately), "Can I take some pictures, dad?" Mind you, this new camera of mine t'weren't cheap, but for me to tell him "no" to photography would be like most other fathers refusing to play catch with their sons. So, after careful instruction and safety precautions, I let him snap away. Wouldn't you know it, the kid comes back with the picture above--not bad for a 5-year old! Of course, I deleted all the pictures with people's heads cut off, blurred images, etc.--but I do that for my own photos too. Maybe we've got a prodigy here. =) Labels: Cameron
May Flowers
Peonies are in bloom in our backyard as of today thanks to whoever lived here before us. Makes me think about legacy--leaving beauty behind for others to enjoy long after you've left. Labels: Plants and Flowers
Trainy Days
What do you do with two sick boys on a rainy Saturday? Thomas the Train saves the day! Labels: Cameron, People

Toes in the Grass
Eliana doesn't like to put her feet down on the grass because of how it tickles.

Iris
One of the great things about the house we live in now is that someone before us obviously loved flowers. Irises started blooming this week. Labels: Plants and Flowers
Zack's Eyes
I've always loved Zack's puppy dog eyes. That kid gets away with a good bit just by being cute. Labels: People, Zack
Look, Ma! No training wheels!
Cameron (age 5) just learned how to ride a bike last week. Didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would and he has yet to skin his knee. Why did it take me until age 11 to learn!?!? (Sad, but true.) Labels: Cameron, People

Snapshots of Life
Photography is limiting. It forces us to narrow our view down to what can be captured in a single small frame. But in doing so, it frees us to see what we normally would have missed--a look in someone's eye, the way light falls across a room, the emotion of a moment, a striking contrast, color, action, or stillness. The photos in this blog offer simple slices of life. It is my hope that they cause you to delight, ponder, wonder, and see the world more deeply.
