Curves

What is it? A bit abstract, I admit. Curved metal from the ornamental piece atop a chain-link fence gate. They must have been all the rage of home fashion at one point. They're everywhere in our neighborhood.

Pumpkin Garage

In lieu of pumpkins, at Halloween I give you a festive orange garage from the neighborhood. Some people just aren't afraid to be noticed.

Bronzed Leaf

Autumn -- when nature bronzes itself as if to preserve the memory of spring and summer.

VW

I'm a sucker for car ornaments. I went out photo-walking to take pictures of fall foilage--and came back with this. Guess I got sidetracked.

Fence Decay

Urban decay both fascinates and bums me. Odd how there can be scenes like this, and a house across the street with an immaculate lawn and flowers--like a neatly trimmed personal oasis for some city dweller.

Fenced America

A shot from a neighbor's yard as I was out photo-walking this weekend. This blog isn't about politics, but this image could make a strong statement for those who oppose building a fence between the U.S. and Mexico.

Orange Pod

Colorful orange pod thingys in a stranger's yard.

"What are they?" I ask as a conversation starter.

"Weeds," he responds.

And that's the end of that story.

Sauvie Bridge

View of a new bridge leading to Sauvie Island north of Portland -- such a happy, scenic place full of farmland and open spaces.

Jag Hoodie

Hood ornament from a Jaguar. Why don't cars generally have hood ornaments any more? Aerodynamics?

October Rose

I was surprised to see roses in such perfect bloom as late as October (almost November already).

Flower with a Golden Wreath

Something happy to start your week off with. Looks kinda like a tiny tennis ball with a wreath of leaves.

Anyone know what kind of flower this is?

Pumpkin

A tribute to all things pumpkin. Somehow, in the midst of herding two mischievous toddlers and two young boys, my wife and I were able to find half a second to enjoy our trip to a local farm. Brought back some smallish pumpkins as trophies of our venture.

View along the sidewalk. Not sure what's so special about it. I just liked the feel and intersection of lines and shapes.

Golden Delicious

A crisp autumn day made happier with an apple tasting festival. Had no idea there were so many varieties of apples, but was glad to discover the "Elstar"--by far our favorite. Evidently, it was everyone else's favorite, too. There were none left for us to purchase.

(The apples in this photo aren't Elstars.)
